By Venus Upadhayaya/Translated by Yu Ning Luo 二十年前,黃美瑜(Huang Meiyu)獨自來到新德里學習寶萊塢舞蹈時,她曾擔心自己會成為康諾特廣場(Connaught Place)牆上常見的失蹤人口海報上的臉孔。時光飛逝,如今她已是一名受過專業訓練的奧迪西舞(Odissi)舞者,在台北開設舞蹈教室,教授台灣年輕人印度舞蹈,並透過羅摩衍那(Ramayana )與濕婆 (Shiva)為主題的舞蹈演出,推廣印度古典文化。美瑜的台灣母親對於女兒內心的「印度魂」感到驚豔,而美瑜則表示自己將奉獻一生給舞蹈,並逐漸理解印度古典舞所傳達的精神——「為神而舞」。她說,她跳舞是獻給神明的。
