Report-Smart

This space started as an invitation to students and scholars to write on India-Taiwan Relations and by this project’s mid-term evolved into a cohort of young reporters. This is Indo-Pacific Politics first league of reporters–three from Taiwan and two from India. In the next four months this young team of five will translate content into Indian and Taiwanese languages; they will write original articles including a few reports and may be do a few audio and video reports as well.

What’s ensured is that they’ll learn new skills, gain new experiences and in the process create a novel, enriching, media platform between India and Taiwan that’ll benefit a growing regional demography of readers in the Indo-Pacific.

As the creator, ideator of Indo-Pacific Politics, senior journalist, Venus Upadhayaya believes [because every bit of this website is done and thought by her] that this is an approach to create future leadership in the media industry and a dynamic social capital in the geo-politically happening Indo-Pacific region.

Every media with a vision to grow should have its own in-house classroom or school that constantly trains and equips journalists with new skills and coaching while also studies and analyses media trends; innovates new media tools and technology; and contributes through innovation and right narratives to the media industry by large.

With Report-Smart, the leadership of the Indo-Pacific Politics is taking a step to create such a space. Venus is inspired by Polynter Institue for Media Studies in Tampa, Florida where she was once a trainee for few days in 2018 and she envisions Report-Smart to grow into something of similar impact and with similar resources in the Indo-Pacific region.
